Hello all, the snow has melted and it is time to prepare for the 10th annual Whiddon Tucker Memorial Golf clinic and tournament . We are making plans to start the golf clinic the first week of March and the tournament will be held on Sunday November 2nd this year. Please go ahead and mark your calendars !!!! Also if you are able to donate any amount no matter how great or small there is a donate button at the bottom of this page . All of the hole donations will go to Pines Of Promise and tournament proceeds will go to the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network. Both of these organizations help clients with mental illness all across Georgia and our local communities. A tax donation receipt will be provided for all sponsors . We are also trying to get newer clubs donated for our client participants so if you have any you are not using and are collecting dust, please reach out to Robert at 229-343-0269
It is our mission to raise funds for the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network and Pines of Promise in Thomasville. The Consumer Network hosts one of the largest statewide consumer conventions in the nation. It is hosted each year at St. Simons Island, Georgia. Proceeds of this event are used to assist the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network support people with disabilities to return to work by training them to become Certified Peer Specialists as well as other Network priorities to benefit persons living with disabilities. Pines of Promise is a non profit in Thomasville Georgia that helps enhance the lives of those with mental illness in southwest Georgia.
Our Friend, Ken Whiddon
Sherry Jenkins Tucker was elected executive director of the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network in 2004.
Of her many titles, honorifics, and awards, ITE was Sherry’s favorite. “I’m The Evidence” that recovery works was a message that she carried wherever she went, and today those of us who were honored to know her, work with her, or simply benefit from her many endeavors on behalf of the mental health recovery community, we are the evidence that one person can change the world, and make it a better place. Because she did.
Don Walin is a retired Canadian PGA professional. He was an active member of the CPGA from 1987-1995. He also graduated with a diploma in golf operations and management from the San Diego Golf Academy in 1986. Don's career as a CPGA golf professional was stopped short because of his bipolar disorder first diagnosed in 1989, just a few days before his 25th birthday. After a ten year battle with his illness his health improved significantly. After being well for several years , he was inspired to write and share his life experiences with others and give hope and inspiration to as many people as possible. You may purchase his book the Crazy Golf Pro on amazon.
Ken Green has been kind enough to support
this event for many years and I encourage
you to check out his book Hunter of Hope
it is available for purchase on Amazon.
